After recently starting up our adult sessions at Catmose College, Oakham, the club have been informed that these sessions have been cancelled for the foreseeable future due to the floor being relayed. This news was passed to the club on Friday 27th August, with no prior warning. This is really disappointing news just as the club was starting to get back up and running.
The club is still currently without a venue since we had to stop offering basketball activities at the onset of COVID-19. The club's management committee is doing everything we can to get a venue as soon as possible, this is however difficult due to the ongoing pandemic and schools reluctant to hire their facilities to the club. We hope to have adult mens sessions running again as soon as we can find a venue, however this is likely to be outside of Melton for the time being.
The club's traditional venue, John Fernelely College (JFC) is still not available to the club, we are trying to get access back to JFC as soon as possible, however this is likely to not be until October, however the club is pushing for this access as soon as we can.
Historically Melton Kings Basketball Club has ran ran three mens teams, a women's team, disability inclusive coaching and junior coaching and competitive games. Due to the breadth of basketball offered our time requirements of a venue are high. For that reason, until we can secure JFC, the junior and disability coaching sessions will be on hold.
Please do bare with us, we are trying as hard as we can to get basketball sessions up and running and resume what we all love to do.
